FAQ
-
We use a 1064 q-switched ND YAG laser. It's extremely fast and very effective at fading tattoo ink.
-
You can have a treatment once every 6 weeks. This gives the tattoo time to fade and gives the skin time to heal.
-
The most common side effects are scabbing and blistering. These are signs of healing and not a bad thing!
-
Honest answer, it doesn't feel amazing (much like getting a tattoo), BUT we try to make the process as comfortable as possible for you. We have a state-of-the-art chilling system that helps numb the skin. Added bonus, it helps to assist in healing. Most clients describe tattoo removal as rubber bands snapping the skin.
-
This is dependant on tattoo size. The average session is between 3 to 8 minutes.
-
Avoid getting the treated area wet. The drier the better for healing. Avoid pools, hot tubs, oceans, lakes, etc. for 2 weeks after each treatment. Most importantly, keep the treated area out of the sun!
-
Most everyone with a healthy immune system is a great candidate for laser tattoo removal. There are certain medications that if taken during the process, would mean we'd have to wait until you're no longer taking them. Also, if you've recently spent a lot of time in the sun, you'll get better results if you wait at least 2 weeks to let the melanin in your skin fade.
-
You can get a new tattoo lasered 6 weeks after getting it. This gives the tattoo and the skin time to heal.
-
This is something that will be discussed at your consultation, but some things that help determine the number of treatments are:
*Age of tattoo: the older the better! Your body has had time to naturally digest the ink, so it's probably already somewhat faded.
*Where the tattoo is located. The closer to your heart the tattoo is, the faster it fades. This is due to circulation.
*Black vs. Colored ink. Black is the easiest ink to fade. Color takes a bit longer, but we've seen great results in fading colored ink with our laser.
*Full removal vs. Fade for a great cover-up. If you're going for full removal, you'll need quite a bit more sessions to get it completely faded out. If you're wanting to fade a tattoo to get a fantastic cover-up, a lot of it depends on the artist you're working with. If you're working with one of our artists (which, let's be honest, why wouldn't you be?!! We have the best in the country!), we can work hand in hand with them and let them determine how light they need your tattoo to be so you can get your ideal cover-up!
Laser Tattoo Removal
Laser tattoo removal is becoming increasingly popular as people seek to rid themselves of unwanted ink. The procedure uses laser technology to break up the pigment of the tattoo, allowing it to be safely and effectively removed. While laser tattoo removal is not without its risks, it is generally a safe and effective way to get rid of unwanted ink. And, as an added bonus, laser tattoo removal can also be used to correct cosmetic imperfections, such as wrinkles and acne scars. So, if you're looking for a way to get rid of that old tattoo, or simply want to improve your appearance, laser tattoo removal may be the answer.
