THE PROCESS

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE.

 01

FIRST TATTOO EXPERIENCE?

Anyone's first time getting a tattoo can be an anxious and potentially confusing journey.

You may have a lot of questions, and there’s a lot you need to know — such as how your skin tone will reflect certain colors, how much it's going to cost and what exactly is it going to look like.

At Certified Tattoo Studios, we offer free consultations for anyone getting a tattoo in Denver, so that you can learn everything you need to know about getting your first tattoo.

02

THE CONSULTATION

Feel free to come in and speak with us about your idea. There should be no pressure while getting a tattoo for the first time. We want to help you feel comfortable about the process before talking about the design. After that, we’ll help you bring the idea to life — working out the placement, subjects, sizing, detail, and most importantly, how you want your tattoo to make you feel when you see it after it's all said and done.

This is important because we need to understand your vision to ensure that we can turn it into beautiful art. Drop by one of our Denver locations to schedule a talk with one of our amazing artists.

03

CHOOSING A DESIGN

Now that you’ve decided you want a tattoo and understand the process... how do you actually design one? Do you have to draw one yourself, or find one in a magazine? When you’re deciding on a design, the best solution is to look around at plenty of studios and designs.

Keep researching until you develop an idea of what style would be best for your idea or design. We’ll work with you to figure out the best tattoo design for you. We also offer custom sketching services from our studios in Denver to put your ideas on paper and help you put a face to your idea.

04

CUSTOM DESIGNS

We pride ourselves on being the premiere tattoo studio in Denver. In order to serve you best, most of the time we will put out a drawn from scratch sketch for our clients so they can see first-hand what their piece will end up looking like before they pull the trigger.

05

GETTING YOUR TATTOO

Choosing your tattoo artist and bearing your teeth to get inked is the last and most important step in getting a tattoo.

At Certified, we have over 30 experienced and talented artists to choose from, the most of any shop around. That way you can have the best experience possible whe getting your tattoo, first time or not.

06

TATTOO AFTERCARE

We recommend washing your tattoo with antibacterial soap as often as you feel necessary, a minimum of 3 times a day. The night and morning after getting tattooed you should wash your tattoo with water as hot as you can handle, this helps clear the lymph from your skin which is what can cause nasty scabbing.  If you’re sweating or have been rubbing it around on some nonsense, WASH IT!  When putting Aquaphor on your tattoo in the days following, remember to rub it into your skin gently.

  • Do not leave a thick layer of clothing or anything else over your tattoo, it needs to breathe to heal.  Lastly, DO NOT pick at your scabs, this will pull the ink/color out.  Let your scab fall off naturally.

    - Use non-scented (fragrance-free) anti-bacterial soap (DIAL Gold)

    - 1st 3 days use Aquaphor a minimum of 3 times a day (can use A&D ointment)

    - After 3 days, use non-scented lotion (Aveeno or Lubriderm are great options)

    - Do not soak in tubs, pools, lakes, oceans, etc.

    - Stay out of the direct sun.
